Thanksgiving for work

Even as the rest of Singapore enjoys a public holiday tomorrow and I don't :( , there's still plenty to give thanks to God for. He has given me a wonderful team where everyone's really easy-going and backstabbing and stuck-up attitudes are nearly non-existant. The regulars have no reason to be nice to NSF because basically we don't have a choice even if they aren't, but they still choose to do so. The team contends with an incoming leader whose reputation precedes him, but I think it will take much more than just one guy to destroy everything that the team has built up. Even as I have to work many hours a week, struggle with forcing my eyes open during work and sleeping together with bats, I personally know people who may kill to get out of their NS vocations and jump into mine, and I don't blame them. I don't get to church some weekends, but I remember what another police officer told me: worship is not just singing songs, it's how you treat others, it's what you do when no one is looking. To a God that is so amazing to me, I can't worship enough.

24/9/08

Worked a record 16 hour shift today! Was insane because I was nearly dozing off while we were doing escort in a van but couldn't sleep because the guy beside me had an un-cuffed hand which could reach for my revolver to ensure it's my last nap. Anyway, met busy Bea after work for lunch! For her to have a free day that coincides with an off for me is like waiting for a solar eclipse. Anyway, it happened and since she had to go back home to work after lunch, ate nearby both of us at Ishikawa. The place was super quiet but the food was pretty good! Enjoyed the company alot and the catching up. And yeah, she got me my Malibu! That probably has to wait for some nice occasion to drink or I'd just guzzle the whole thing off by myself. :P

After lunch had a 2 hour nap and then met Kiat and Vincent at the Old Town coffee joint near my place (so nice everyone comes to my area to eat). I'm liking that place more now and the food/drinks/dessert was enjoyed by us! Pity Vincent is no more at Rifle Range and he had to make a super long journey to come to meet us, but glad he made it! :)

Some pics at lunch!

a half assed attempt to frown properly :(

Beatrice wanted to take a pic of all the food!

Look at the massive carnage :P

Stupidity

I read the story of the Israelites after they travelled through Egypt any number of times when I was younger. Each time I asked myself if they got high on camel's piss that made them so stupid to forget God after what He had done for them. Looking back, I realised I didn't even need camel's piss. At least the Israelites took years or a couple of generations to do so. We get annoyed when we do things for people and they don't notice it or forget it after a while. It must be really difficult to be God to deal with this on such a regular basis. If I were God I'd probably just shoot out lightning bolts out of my pinkie and fry the imbecile Joshua at once. Instead, he sends people to get me to straighten my head. Even sent someone in the police force of all places! That's how nice He is. I shan't take His niceness for granted. The Israelites did and suffered and many thousand years later were called stupid by a not too wise Joshua. I don't want the same thing happening to me.

Masks

Which one should I put on today?

Maybe I don't even need one anymore

I'm so good at acting

I even got myself fooled
