A man who loves others with an open-hearted simplicity, who trusts others, no matter who they are, even if he is deceived or even betrayed - such a man in the present-day world is bound to be written off as a fool. And so he is. But not just an ordinary fool. He is a wonderful fool. He is a wonderful fool who will never allow the little light which he sheds along man's way to go out.
- Shusaku Endo - Wonderful Fool
After breakfast with Kevin yesterday morning went to NLB at Bugis once again to look for the ever-elusive Murakami books that I've yet to read, again to no avail. Instead, I chanced upon this other Japanese author. The story is a fictional account about a frenchman who went to Japan for reasons unknown besides having failed to qualify as a proper missionary. Despite his lack of good looks, naiveté, social skills and apparant good sense, he touched the lives of the people whose path he crossed. Just before borrowing the book I was thinking in the library about how difficult it is sometimes to manage the things we treasure in our lives, and the people who we want to become and this book gave me a new perspective.
After cell group Xin Ning couldn't put off getting her nose pierced any longer and decided to do it that very evening. Could tell she was really nervous the whole way with her frost maiden hands but she was pretty brave about it. Now I know why Azizan only talks about Primitive when it comes to piercing because they seem professional going about it. Maybe I'd get my tragus pierced there next time... MAYBE *wink wink*
